The physical is broken up into different sections that assess your vision, blood pressure, and other body systems. During the physical, your provider will ask you questions about your past and current medical history. They will check your blood pressure and pulse, which can reveal health issues you may be unaware of. They will also examine your heart, lungs, ears, throat, and eyes. Drivers must have 20/40 vision with or without eyeglasses, and be able to hear a forced whisper from five feet away with earplugs or hearing aids. They will also test your muscle strength and reflexes. In addition, your provider will conduct a urine analysis to determine the levels of glucose, protein, and blood in your system. This helps identify underlying medical conditions that could affect driving performance, like diabetes or kidney disease. Those with high blood pressure may be disqualified from passing the exam.
